Yesterday, March 16, 2010, Governor Chris Christie proposed a state budget for Fiscal Year 2011, which will begin on July 1, 2010. His plan calls for dramatic reductions in state spending on municipal aid, school aid, and higher education aid, among other measures designed to reconcile a staggering budget shortfall. Though higher education was not a topic of discussion during the governor’s televised address, his proposal will have significant ramifications for the present and future of higher education in New Jersey.

High school students who are nominated by their school music teachers will spend a day participating in ensembles directed by TCNJ faculty. The Honors Music Day will feature three ensembles: band, choir, and orchestra. The students who are accepted into an ensemble will spend a full day rehearsing at the College of New Jersey and will perform a concert at 7:00 pm that evening.

TCNJ's Alternative Break Club recently returned from a service trip to New Orleans, which took place January 3-9, 2010. Forty students went on the trip to assist in the rebuilding and recovery efforts in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
